Name: (Tyrant) Valvatorez
Canon: Disgaea 4
OU/AU/OC: OU
Canon Point: The end of 'The Flashback Episode', but before he meets Artina.
History: http://disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Valvatorez
Personality:
Tyrant Valvatorez, the Bloodthirsty King of Fear, the Blood-soaked Valvatorez of Absolute Evil, The King of Carnage and Atrocity... Such titles would normally bring to mind a monstrous conquerer concerned only with complete domination of the world, lording over his subjects with an iron fist and declaring human sacrifices in his nameā¦
Tyrant Valvatorez is not that man. Valvatorez (the 'Tyrant' title was given to him by others, along with the rest of his titles), while incredibly powerful even by demon standards, is a surprisingly amiable fellow. He's only 'evil' in the sense that he's a punch-clock villain, viewing his evil duties as a job that must be done for the good of all. He routinely visits the human world to strike fear into the hearts of mankind, but he does it not because he enjoys it, but rather because it's his duty as a demon to do so.
You see, demons subsist on the energy created by humans when they fear demons much in the same way that humans need oxygen, so it is the duty of any proud demon to venture forth and extract said energy. If demons were to stop, all sorts of horrible things would happen. For one, the Netherworld would lose power, and eventually fade away. For another, the fear of demons is what keeps the human world in line. If they stopped being afraid, they'd go off the rails and do all kinds of stupid and sinful things (like invent atomic weaponry and pollution). To combat the fear, humans pray to God and the angels of Celestia (haw) for protection, which in turn generates 'awe' energy to fuel heaven. In essence, Celestia depends on demons to do their job in order for their own society to function as well. Without demons doing their job, all three worlds would fall apart.
Valvatorez, well aware of this system, pours his all into his duty. To be more specific, he pours his all into anything he does, from scaring humans to correcting a typo in the local newspaper (by storming the information bureau and demanding a correction at figurative gunpoint). He is determined, and once he sets his mind on something, nothing will stand in his way of accomplishing his goal. He is incredibly dramatic and over the top, hamming up his performance at every opportunity. Granted, most demons are a bit on the hammy side (that happens when your world is made of ham), but Val is theatric to an almost unprecedented degree.
Valvatorez is something of an oddity among demons; he firmly believes in the power of alliances and friendship, and is quick to trust those he's just met. He also happens to be a bit on the gullible side, and will risk his life for those he'd declared "comrades" just minutes prior. When asked by his werewolf steward, Fenrich, how he'd managed to survive as long as he had with that bizarre attitude of his, Valvatorez's response was "Easy, I'm strong." Fenrich, by far the cleverer of the two, eagerly takes advantage of his gullibility on a regular basis, manipulating his lord to accomplish his own goals. However, Valvatorez appears to be aware of this arrangement to some degree, but whether his trust for his friend overrides his suspicion, or whether he just doesn't care, it's difficult to say. That said, if Fenrich attempted to get him to do something he disagreed with on a moral level, he'd never comply (unless Fenrish twisted it into something that Val would agree with, which actually happens fairly often).
He's quick to forgive those who have wronged him, and never holds a grudge. In fact, he first met Fenrich when the werewolf had taken out a contract to assassinate him. After declaring him a comrade, the vampire thought nothing of risking his life for his new ally, even after Fenrich's plan to assassinate him came to light. He didn't care that the werewolf had planned to kill him, all he cared about was that Fenrich was a comrade, and he would never leave a comrade behind. He also spared the life of the man who put the hit out for him on the condition that he promise never to bother him again. It was the strength of his conviction that convinced the werewolf to serve Valvatorez for the rest of his days.
Now, Valvatorez is not, by any means, a pure bastion of goodness and nobility. He is still a demon, if a peculiar one, and thus has his own set of morality that can, at times, greatly clash with conventional morality. He has no qualms with killing (it's rare to find a demon who does), and has likely done so countless times in the past (whether through feeding or other incidental deaths). He didn't earn the title of 'Tyrant' for nothing. He's good at his job of terrorizing humans, to the point where adventuring parties often seek him out in their quest to eradicate evil, and his ultimate goal is to become a symbol of fear itself. To that end, he has become something of a boogeyman-like figure to humans, who warn their children and daughters not to go out at night lest he snatch them up and drain them dry. Other demons are also terrified of him (mostly due to his absurd power), and utter his name in hushed whispers. He's a cross between a folk hero and an urban legend to demonkind, and young demons often aspire to be like him, while older demons aspire to become strong enough to kill him and prove their own power.
Despite his power, he has zero ambition of his own, and is content to fulfill his duties as a "proud and noble" demon. Thus, he's not liable to pick fights on his own, nor is he one to boast about his power. He knows he's powerful, and will defend himself if attacked, but he's not one to flaunt said power.
Strengths:
*Ridiculously powerful. Obviously, this will be greatly nerfed, as even at 50%, he's still absurd.
*Weaponized shape-shifting. (Including transforming into a swarm of bats (will be insects as a changeling), spawning red spikes from his own body, and his dragon form (though this can be nerfed or removed entirely if deemed too overpowered.)
*Tireless determination.
*Completely honest and keeps his promises.
*LOYALTY. His trust in The Power of Friendship rivals most Shonen heroes and will fit in well in Equestria.
*The most honorable demon you're likely to ever meet.
*Strong will and fortitude. To clarify, he's basically immune to disease. Not because he's a vampire, but because he's so damn stubborn, that he refuses to become sick. At one point in Disgaea 4, a zombie plague-like virus that turns people into idiots (it's a long story) infects the entire cast except for himself (and Vulcanus, but she's an angel and angels are immune to disease anyway). By all rights, he should have been affected, but through sheer willpower, he staved it off.
Weaknesses:
*Completely honest. This is on both lists, because it means he readily parts with personal information that could be used against him.
*Oblivious and easily manipulated. For someone so powerful, he's surprisingly gullible. That Loyalty thing up there? He trusts implicitly anyone who declares themselves his ally, and will put his life on the line for them.
*Incredibly proud. He refuses to take blood from anyone not terrified of him, and never accepts what he views as charity. To be pitied is the greatest personal offense one can commit against him. This is what would eventually cause his downfall in canon.
*Requires human blood to sustain his strength (as a changeling, this no longer applies, however. Instead, he'll need to feed on emotion like any changeling).
