Valvatorez is something of an oddity among demons; he firmly believes in the power of alliances and friendship, and is quick to trust those he's just met. He also happens to be a bit on the gullible side, and will risk his life for those he'd declared "comrades" just minutes prior. When asked by his werewolf steward, Fenrich, how he'd managed to survive as long as he had with that bizarre attitude of his, Valvatorez's response was "Easy, I'm strong."
He steadfastly fulfills his duties as a demon to strike terror into the hearts of humanity. He is proud of the role he undertakes, and gladly designates himself as the villain Earth needs to keep itself in line. He's not a bad guy, he's just doing what he believes is right, even if it clashes with the standard idea of morality and marks him as a villain. He puts his all into everything he does, no matter what it is.
When he gives his word on something, you can expect him to follow through. He puts his pride on the line to follow through with his promises, and while he's not quite as obsessive about them as his future self, he still takes them very seriously.
